One small step – motivation is the key

November 11, 2012

Ooooh, first blog, where to start? …………….mind goes blank.

Oh yes, now I remember this blog is a sort of early New Years resolution.  There are things about me and my life that I want to change for the better.  If I’m honest I know the only person who is going to make stuff happen is me, but as we all know that’s easier said than done.  I must admit to being really jealous of all the stories you read about people who have had the willpower to ‘lose 8 stone’, ‘run a marathon’ or ‘change career at 45’.  Even more so of the people who have made a life change ‘stick’.  I would love to be one of them, once I figure out what my thing is :-).

I generally start all of my hair brained schemes with the best of intentions, becoming only slightly (well, actually pretty badly) obsessed with whatever the flavour of the month is.  The honeymoon phase can last quite a while, but at some point the motivation faeries move house.  To be honest, I can only truly say I have stuck to 2 of my schemes.  One was to learn to scuba dive, which I’ve been doing for 7 years now and am still going strong.  The other is exercise classes, which I started doing 2 years ago (after a very long break) and helped me lose 2.5 stone and feel much fitter and stronger.

So, this blog is about my adventures while  trying to work out what changes I want to make, how to make them happen and the highs and lows along the way.  As they say on just about every reality show these days, it’s all about the journey.
