The social dimension

Time to feel the love

Looking at my recent entries I think I can safely say that I am making very positive steps towards my goal to lose weight and look good for my May photoshoot.  However, there are other aspects of my life I need to get a handle on too.

An old friend came to stay at the weekend and we had a great time just mucking about and it really drove home to me how much I am missing my friends.  Somehow, over the last couple of years I’ve engineered myself into a position where I don’t see much of my friends.

This is an issue with the BF as we keep ourselves pretty busy, but is related to how we view our social lives.  I need to be around people or I get quite depressed and bored, he’s very self contained and can pretty much take people or leave them.  Knowing that he’s less inclined to do the ‘social’ thing than me I haven’t really tried to drag him to see people, so we pretty much do our own thing.  As a result I’m feeling a bit like a hermit.

I do feel really guilty that I have let some friendships ‘lapse’ and there is no excuse for this.  Our lives are all busy, but friends and family are the reason we live it.  There are some wonderful people who have come into my life over the years, for all sorts of reasons, and my next goal is about re-establishing contact and renewing our relationship.

So, after Christmas I plan to start arranging to meet up with those missing ‘special’ people in my life.  You know who you are, I will be in touch.  Love you all.
