Janathon Day 11 – the WRONG way

Stupid, stupid, stupid woman!

2 hours after finishing my run I am still playing that mantra round and round my head.  I don’t know why, but tonight I thought ‘lets try the same running route in reverse’.  I’ve read a few training guides that have recommended doing this as a way of keeping things fresh.

Now I don’t know how, but despite ending and starting in the same place and covering the same ground this run was waaaaaaay harder than the last couple of 28 min efforts.  My pace has gone from the 11 min range to just over 13!  Somehow the hills are much harder going this way round and instead of a punchy quick descent and a long gentle incline I now had a steep uphill slog with a long barely noticeable decline.

By the end of it my legs felt like lead weights and my feet were all over the shop again.  The only consolation is that while I was breathing hard I was in control even if it didn’t feel comfortable at the time.  I think I’m going to have to do that route again at some point after finishing couch25k, just to prove to myself I can run it better!  Anyway, that’s me done with week 8 and my next run will be for 30 mins!!!!!!!!!  I just hope that I can find a gap in the horrible weather forecast on Sunday to start week 9 on a high 🙂

Looking back on my pre-Janathon efforts I can now report the following totals for my activities this month.  I’ve tried registering on running free website with no luck, so I’ll keep a record here for the time being.  However, I think I can safely say I’m not mounting much of a challenge in the leaderboard stakes, but I’m happy with what I’m doing. Tomorrow  I’m off to the BF’s, so maybe I’ll have to have a walk just to take a break from Orc slaughtering.
