Now you see me, now you don’t

April 12, 2013

On Wednesday the long-suffering BF and I split up.

This isn’t a post to rubbish him, far from it.  He’s a lovely guy, but we have changed a lot over time and we want different things – nuff said.  I want us to be happy going in our respective directions, it’s just rather difficult to maintain my famed optimism in the face of such a large change.

So, if I occasionally drop off the plot for a bit, or appear to be suffering from lack of motivation/commitment, that’s why.

In response to the natural rollercoaster of emotions I have applied Defcon 4 measures – otherwise known as the standard break-up rules:

  • don’t buy new clothes
  • don’t get a haircut
  • don’t date

I’ve also ceased all consideration of a tattoo.  I think this might be a good time to sort out some of my unresolved goals for 2013 and I’m working on not just falling into a swimming pool of Ben and Jerrys – we wont mention the bag of Maltesers I just demolished #looksshifty.

Its been years since I’ve been single, I can barely remember how it worked.  I’m sure it will all come flooding back, like riding a bike really……. :-/

Oh Nev 😦 I’m sorry. Even if it is for the best, it’s still rubbish. But, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT follow me into the ocean of sugar and Ben and Jerry’s that I have resided in for the last week. It WILL make you feel worse (and fat). Sending a virtual Jared Leto, guy linered hug your way. Don’t forget – Spartacus marathons are entirely acceptable at any time of the day/week/life stage too.

Thanks Tub. The thought of a virtual guylinered Jared Leto nearly made me fall off my sofa laughing :-).

I’ll try to be good o the food front. Joining my local slimming world on Tuesday to keep me on straight and narrow while knee is sorted.

Oooh another to the Slimming World ranks! Good on you Nev! How is the knee?

Docs in the morning, I’ll let you know how it goes. Getting annoyed with it now as its actually more painful 😦

That’s rubbish & will be raw for a while. Agree don’t do anything rash. Try & use running as a release & therapy cheaper & better for you than ice cream & benefits last longer than a sugar rush.
Hang in there, find your friends & move on 🙂

So sorry to read about your breakup! I think a little bit of wallowing in non-destructive ways is necessary in these situations. 🙂 But it’s great that you have your running and other goals to focus on and help keep you moving forward. Sending you lots of positive thoughts!

Bummer. Wounds such as these are always tender. I pray for a speedy recovery.

Oh that’s crap – I’m sorry, Nev. Breakups suck, no matter the circumstances. Sorry for being so late in even reading / responding to this. Hope you’re doing OK. xx

Thanks for checking up on me, its much appreciated :-).
Doing pretty good really. Everything is amicable, we were diving today and are seeing Eddie Izzard next week. The hard part is the daily habits you get into with someone in your life that suddenly stop.
Weird getting my head round being single again at 38, but Im sure I’ll get the hang of it :-).

      • May 7, 2013 11:18 am

Glad to hear things are going OK. I have no doubt you’ll get the hang of it, but you’re so right – those daily habits are tough! Have fun next week. 🙂

So sorry I haven’t kept up with your goings on!! :(. Boys are dumb.
